N Rangasamy who holds the record of longest serving Chief Minister of Puducherry received a major setback in Assembly Polls 2016. After being the CM of Puducherry for 15 years at a stretch, Ramasamy's Party AINRC managed to win only 8 Seats in the recent polls. He, however, won by a margin of 3,404 votes contesting from Indira Nagar Constituency.
Congress-DMK Alliance gonna form the Government after they jointly won bagged 17 Assembly Constituencies.
Soon after the counting began, Neck-on-Neck fight took place between AINRC & Congress-DMK. Finally, Cong+ emerged victorious. AIADMK won 4 Seats contesting alone. People's Welfare Front comprising CPM, CPI, VCK, MDMK & RSP hardly made any impact.
Congress candidate Malladi Krishna Rao won from Yanam Assembly segment 6th time. He forayed into electoral politics since 1996. He contested as independent in 1996 & 2001.
