Pune-based firm develops kit that enables individuals to take Covid test at home

Undergoing Corona tests is the main way to detect whether he/she had tested positive for the novel Coronavirus or not. There is severe criticism of the Covid tests conducted by the concerned authorities.

As a big development in the testing process to detect Covid, a Mylab Discovery Solutions based out of Pune is gearing up to develop India's first self-use rapid antigen test (RAT) kit.

The apex medical body in India, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) gave its nod for the kit. In a tweet, the body said, the guidelines for using the kits at home.

The advisory issued by the ICMR says he/she who test positive for the virus in the RAT kits may fall under the category of true positives and individuals need not test themselves multiple times.

The kit comes with testing materials and guidelines on how to use the testing kit. To see that the biowaste is disposed of carefully, a leaflet will be provided. The testing kit named CoviSelf delivers the result in just 15 minutes.

"With CoviSelf, we are sharing the power of testing early with the citizens. It will save thousands of lives. For India, we will make millions of kits available at fraction of the cost of such kits in the US," Mylab Discovery Solutions Managing Director said.
