In what it could be a shocker, notorious gangster of Punjab Jaggu Bhagwanpuria tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Batala of Gurdaspur. The gangster was brought there from a Patiala jail on a production warrant in connection with the murder case of an Akali leader.
As a result, more than 30 police personnel who came in contact with the gangster were tested for the fatal virus and sent to quarantine centers accordingly. There is no information on how the virus entered the jail.
Talking about the positive cases of COVID-19 in Punjab state, 219 poistive cases were reported on Tuesday taking the toll of the total count of the COVID-19 cases in the state to 1,451.
Out of the 219 newly reported cases, 174 cases were related to the Nanded pilgrims who returned from Maharashtra recently.
