The state government deployed around 40 government teachers to counter the illegal sand mining. These teachers will be posted at notable checkpoints at Phagwara city. Teachers will be accompanied by the police.

Teachers will render their services at the checkpoints from 9 PM to 1 PM. The government backed the move and said that they opted for this to counter the illegal sand mafia.
