What Will Happen To Raghuveera Now?

Update: 2019-03-29 10:13 GMT
The politics in Kalyandurg constituency of Anantapur district is taking an interesting twist. Hanumantha Raya Chowdary of the TDP, who threatened to fight the polls as a rebel candidate against the official TDP candidate, has now withdrawn his nomination. In fact, he is the sitting MLA, but Chandrababu Naidu did not give ticket to him as he is hugely unpopular and the voters have a very negative opinion about him. Babu gave the party ticket to Madineni Umamaheswara Naidu. Upset with this, Chowdary entered the fray as a rebel. But, now he has withdrawn his nomination and has decided to back the official candidate.

This is bad news for PCC chief Raghuveera Reddy. Raghuveera hoped to win from Kalyandurg due to a possible split in the TDP vote. So, Raghuveera has been using all the resources at his command to win the elections. Now that Chowdary is out of the fray, his hopes have been dashed. Raghuveera won from Kalyandurg some ten years ago. Last time, he contested from Penugonda and lost badly. Now, that Chowdary has backed off, his hopes of winning from Kalyanadurg have been dashed. To add to his woes, the YSRCP has given ticket to a Kuruba, the cast to which Raghuveera belongs. With this interesting turn of events, the contest has become three cornered in Kalyandurg.
