Rahul Gandhi planning a new PCC chief for AP

Update: 2021-08-11 11:11 GMT
Why have the Congress leaders in Andhra Pradesh become suddenly active? Till now dormant APCC chief Sailajanath was suddenly active and met Governor Viswabhushan Harichandan. The very next day, he held a meeting of the party workers, where some disgruntled YSRCP leaders joined the Congress Party.

Sources say that there has been some activity in the Congress Party ever since the two-day tour of AICC senior leader Oomen Chandy to AP.  He met several leaders, held discussions and based on this visit, he submitted a report to Rahul Gandhi. Since then, Rahul Gandhi began holding discussions on how to revive the Congress Party in AP.

The Congress Party, which always considered AP as its citadel, became a zero after it bifurcated the state and carved out Telangana. The AP saw this as a betrayal and rejected the Congress completely. Since 2014, the Congress could not open its account in AP Assembly. All its leaders had lost their security deposits in 2014 and 2019.  The voters of AP are unforgiving and have ejected the Congress completely.

Now, Rahul Gandhi wants to rejuvenate the party in AP.  On Wednesday, Rahul held a special meeting of several key Congress leaders from Andhra Pradesh. If sources are to be believed, changing the PCC chief too was discussed during the meeting. If sources are to be believed, the Congress might soon have a new PCC chief in Andhra Pradesh.
