The opposition Congress party which openly opposed the controversial agricultural bills introduced by the union government called for a protest outside the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi.
To stand in solidarity with the farmers, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and several other leaders joined the farmers to march towards the official residence of the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Raj Niwas.
Rahul Gandhi led the rally on Friday to march towards the official residence to protest against the three agricultural bills, often termed as black laws by the opposition.
Speaking to the media, Rahul Gandhi slammed the bills and said these laws were brought to finish the farmers. He said Prime Minister wonât respect the farmers, News Agency ANI quoted.
"The Narendra Modi government earlier tried to take away the land of farmers, when it brought the land acquisition Act and the Congress party stopped them at that time. Now the BJP and their two-three friends are once again attacking the farmers and have brought these three farm laws," Mr. Gandhi added.
Congress party launched a "Speak Up For Kisan Adhikar" campaign against the agricultural bills and called for Kisan Adhikar Divas (Farmer Rights Day) today.
The Delhi leadership of Congress directed the Congress leaders across the state to protest outside the Raj Bhavans of the respective states against the controversial states. The protest was started with Delhi.
