Rahul Gandhi has once again ended up being an object of ridicule. On Thursday, the Central Government has announced a massive and all-encompassing relief package for the poor and the marginalised people in view of the Corona Lockdown. The package was praised by everyone. Even AICC chief Sonia Gandhi was unequivocal in praising the Modi government for its pro-poor initiative during these tough times.
But, one politician has scoffed at and ridiculed the package. No marks for guessing. It was Rahul Gandhi. He sarcastically tweeted about the package and criticised it. But, soon he realised that there were no takers for his sarcasm. Even his mother has showered wholesome praise on the Modi government. So, he realised that he was alone in his criticism. Soon, he came out with a tweet that welcomed the package. He said: "The Govt announcement today of a financial assistance package, is the first step in the right direction. India owes a debt to its farmers, daily wage earners, labourers, women & the elderly who are bearing the brunt of the ongoing lockdown." This perhaps is the first time that he had praised something that Modi has done.
But, wait...!! There is something interesting. While his criticism of the Modi government was in Hindi language, the language that most ruralits understand, his praise is in English, which is understood in the urban areas only.
