Why Rajiv Gandhi's Killer sought Parole?

Update: 2016-02-24 06:31 GMT
Nalini Sriharan, the prime accused in former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi's assassination case, sought parole for attending last rites of her father.

On Monday, Nalini's Father passed away. The cremation of the deceased is going to happen on Wednesday.

Jail Authorities were considering the plea of Nalini Sriharan. She might be allowed to walk free for at least few hours or a day if prison rules permit.

A month after Rajiv Gandhi's assassination on May 21st, 1991, Nalini Sriharan was taken into custody and death penalty was pronounced after being convicted. She, however, got a relief in the form life imprisonment after AICC Chief Sonia Gandhi's intervention urging for clemency to the convict.
