Shankar the imaginative filmmaker from South Indian Film Industry, made his most ambitious project till date with Rajnikanth as hero, Enthiran/Robot seven years ago. The film became a massive hit all across South India and before Bahubali trashed all the existing records by ridiculous margin, it was the record holder for highest revenue collected by a Hindi dubbed movie. The sequel for the movie, 2.0 is slated for a release this Diwali and the post production is going on at full swing.

The movie is said to have a 'Make in India' theme following the request by Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. Modi to attract foreign investments started out a campaign, 'Make in India' and then Rajni announced his film, he met with the actor and the team asking them to make the movie in India only. The producers obliged to the request and planned the entire production and post production in India. Accordingly, no foreign VFX companies are involved in creating the futuristic world of 2.0.

Producers also said that the movie will have many specialities like helicam shots of the action sequences between Akshay and Rajni. They were confident that the theatres will change their outlook towards 3D once they see the response for the movie. They said the movie is being made on a large scale 3D cameras with Hollywood know-how rather than shooting it in 2D and converting it to 3D. Akshay Kumar, Amy Jackson and Sudhanshu Pandey are acting in this most expensive Indian Film ever while AR Rehman is providing the score.
