In view of the reports that Centre is keen on honouring them with Padma awards, Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev and Spiritual Leader Sri Sri Ravishankar has refused to accept any such rewards.
In his letter to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Ramdev told an ascetic like him should refrain from accepting rewards or honours. He appealed the Central Government to give the award for deserving people and allow him to serve selflessly instead.
On the other hand, Art of Living founder Sr Sri Ravi Shankar told, "Rajnath Singh ji called to inform me about Padma Awards. I thank Govt for considering me. Instead of me, I'd like them to honour someone else".
