Rapid Antigen Tests Not Credible Says Rajasthan Health Minister

Update: 2020-08-22 07:29 GMT
Rajasthan Health Minister Raghu Sharma on Friday said that the central government should not waste money on rapid antigen tests for testing the virus as their results are not credible.

Raghu Sharma said that the state government had asked for these test kits from ICMR but it did not get them.

However, 200 kits were taken from a private hospital and tested their accuracy. The efficiency level of the tests kits, made by a South Korean company, was 51 per cent.

The minister said that the rapid testing kits purchased earlier from China did not produce credible results, and the state government had told the Centre about this.

Now, he claimed there were similar problems with the accuracy of the South Korea kits and said the central government should not waste money on them.
