Rapid developments in Huzurabad constituency

Update: 2021-07-11 10:30 GMT
Rapid political developments are taking place in the Huzurabad Congress party. With the Huzurabad assembly constituency set to go for bypolls soon, the politics have picked up pace in Huzurabad. Ever since Revanth Reddy took over reins of the party, there has been enthusiasm among the party workers. They are raring to go.

Revanth, however, was quite sober and was not given to hyperbole. He told the interviewers that the Congress had never won from Huzurabad since 1983. So, he would try his best for its victory, he said and added that his chief focus was on 2023. This state is being seen as an indirect admission that the Congress does not stand many chances in Huzurabad.

At the same time, Congress leader Kaushik Reddy has been constantly saying that he would contest against Eatala Rajender at any cost. While he is very clear in his intent to contest, he is not indicating whether he would contest on the Congress Party ticket. Increasingly, he is indicating his proximity to the TRS. In fact, he had already met KTR, albeit at a death-ceremony in Huzurabad. He is said to have discussed the political situation in Huzurabad assembly constituency post Eatala's resignation from the Assembly.

Kaushik also met Revanth Reddy after the latter became the PCC chief. However, the Congress is not sure whether Kaushik could be trusted. While he is demanding the party ticket, he is also continuing his dalliance with the TRS, especially KTR. Even after getting elected on the Congress ticket, Kaushik could very well defect to the TRS, the Congress suspects. Hence, the Congress as of now is adopting an ambivalent attitude.

Sources also suspect that the TRS could choose from either L Ramana, who has just joined the TRS or Kaushik Reddy, who secured around 65000 votes in the 2018 elections.  He is viewed as a formidable candidate. But the Congress is unsure of whether he would remain in the Congress even after winning on the party's ticket.
