The Congress High Command has ignored the famed G 23 in the list of party's star campaigners. Leaders like Anand Sharma, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Manish Tiwari, Shashi Tharoor, Bhupinder Hooda and others have been omitted from the list of star campaigners for the upcoming elections to the five states. â
The Congress Party has released a list of 30 party leaders and told the Election Commission that they would be the star campaigners of the party. The list includes Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Manmohan Singh, Sachin Pilot, RPN Singh, Mohammed Azharuddin, Salman Khurshid and others. But, the names of the the G 23, who raised a banner of revolt against the high command and demanded internal democracy, have been ignored. Their names do not figure in the list of campaigners. This is a clear signal that they have fallen out of favour because of their rebellion.
It may be recalled that the G 23 have recently held a public meeting in Jammu repeating their demand for internal democracy in the party. During his speech Ghulam Nabi Azad had even gone to the extent of calling PM Narendra Modi a rooted politician. He implied that Rahul and Priyanka were not rooted politicians. As a retaliation, the Congress has removed their names from the list of star campaigners.
