Republic Day row refuses leave TPCC

The Republic Day celebration at the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee headquarters in Gandhi Bhavan is the hottest topic of discussion even three days after the programme. The Congress circles are still debating the way the seniors gave a miss to the flag-hoisting. In an unprecedented incident, former PCC chiefs Uttam Kumar Reddy and V Hanumanth Rao skipped the programme.

Congress Legislature Party leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, working president Turpu Jagga Reddy, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and several other senior leaders did not attend the programme. Of late, Mallu is organizing his own programmes. Similarly, though invited, Jagga Reddy told the TPCC point-blank that he would not attend the programme and the TPCC chief was taking unilateral decisions.

Senior leader V Hanumantha Rao, who used to be a regular fixture at all party programmes, too did not attend the Republic Day programme at Gandhi Bhavan. He is upset over another senior leader Premsagar Rao criticizing him at a party meeting. He feels that Revanth Reddy is backing Premsagar Rao. He is said to have told the party organizers that he would attend a party programme only when Premsagar Rao apologies.

However, senior leaders like Geetha Reddy, Mohammad Ali Shabbir, Ponnala Lakshmaiah and others attended the flag-hoisting. The Congress leaders are hotly debating the absentees and their reasons for the absence. The party thinking heads are worried that these differences will only increase by each passing day.
