The Mumbai police's Crime Branch on Tuesday arrested Republic TV's distribution head Ghanshyam Singh for alleged manipulation of ratings to present the news channel as the most watched.
Ghanshyam Singh, who is also Assistant Vice President of the Republic Media Network, is the 12th accused to be arrested by the Crime Branch in connection with the case over alleged manipulation of TRP. He was picked up from his residence around 7.40 am this morning. He will be in police custody till November 13.
According to police sources, some viewers witnessed that they were paid to put Republic TV on even when they were not watching. Two local channels - Fakt Marathi and Box Cinema - were named in early investigations into the alleged TRP scam.
