With 22 Junior National team Scullers failing the dope tests, the Rowing Federation of India (RFI) floated a probe into this, after the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) directed the RFI to look into the issue.
The Junior Scullers who were under the age of 18, found using the probenecid drug. The World Anti-Doping Agency banned the drug which is used to treat gout. The samples of the rowers were collected in July of last year.
The samples of the scullers were collected in July at a training camp in Hyderabad. Talking about the same, RFI Secretary MV Sriram said that the failed test might have a part in a pre-planned lapse.
NADA Director General Navin Agarwal refurbished the speculations that collecting the samples and testing them might result in the tests turned out to be positive and said that the gap of 11 months does not matter in this regard.
