Rs 10 lakh Earners won't receive LPG subsidy anymore

Central Government on Monday withdrew LPG subsidy for tax payers earning over Rs 10 lakh per annum. From now onwards, A Consumer with more than Rs 10 lakh taxable income during the previous financial year won't be entitled for subsidy.

In India, there are over 15 crore LPG Customers and 57.5 lakhs out them have voluntarily given up cooking gas subsidy following an aggressive campaign of Government to help the poor.

Until now, Government has been supplying 12 cylinders of 14.2 kg each at subsidised price of Rs 419.26 whereas the market price is Rs 608. The subsidy amount was paid directly in the bank account of the consumers.

During the financial year 2014-15, The amount spent by Government on LPG Subsidy was Rs 40,551 crore. As a result, Some concrete steps were taken to reduce the burden.
