Rs 500 & Rs 1000 Notes floating in Ganga River

Large number of Currency Notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 denominations were seen floating in the Ganga River in Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh. People gathered in huge numbers to have a look at the notes which became useless after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Nation address on November 8th.

In an another incident, Bags full of high denomination currency notes were found abandoned at Bareilly Town. Media has reported a rag picker in Maharashtra finding a trash bag with Rs 50,000 in cash.

Assembly Polls were scheduled to take place in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Goa and Uttarakhand in February next year. Political Parties & Leaders in poll-bound states have already mobilized hundreds of crores in cash for distribution before the polling day. The only option left before them is distribution of unaccounted old currency notes to the voters now itself as an advance. If they fail to do so before December 31st, All these currency notes will turn into waste papers.
