Rs 6 crore hurdle for Charan's Zanjeer

The 'royalty' issue is likely to become a big hurdle for the release of Ram Charan's Bollywood debut flick Zanjeer.

Citing the copyrights act, the writer duo Salim Khan-Javed Akhtar who provided script for the original (Amitabh Bachchan's Zanjeer) have been demanding a hefty compensation of Rs 6 crore from the makers of the remake. A case has been pending in the court on the same issue and the writers even wrote a letter to the Scriptwriter's Association.

However, producer Amit Mehra rules out the chances of paying the package saying that since the writers had already been paid remuneration once for the script, they weren't liable to be paid again.

Salim Khan (Salam Khan's Father) demanded Rs 3 crore as royalty for the Hindi version and also claims to be having the copyright of the Southern version which is worth another Rs 3 crore. How Charan crosses this hurdle for the smooth release is to be seen!
