Russia's Imported vaccine Sputnik V Priced at Rs 995 per dose, costliest vaccine in India

As a big development in the ongoing vaccination drive against the Covid-19 virus in India, an imported vaccine got the required clearance from the Central Drug Laboratory. With the vaccine gearing up for the rollout, the price of the vaccine was announced recently.

Russian Covid-19 vaccine Sputnik-V was approved for emergency usage earlier in April this year. After the approval, the first batch of vaccine doses reached India in May.

To distribute the Sputnik-V vaccine in India, the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) has joined hands with Dr. Reddy's labs based out of pearl city Hyderabad. The vaccine is priced at Rs 995.4.

The Russian vaccine was priced at Rs 945 per dose and an additional GST of percent takes the end price of the vaccine to Rs 995.4.

Sputnik V will be the costliest vaccine in India as of now. The vaccine doses manufactured by Serum Institute and Bharat BioTech were priced at Rs 300 and Rs 400 per dose respectively.

It is said that the vaccine developed in India will be costing below Rs 950 as the doses developed in the countries will not attract GST charges reportedly.
