Former BSF Jawan Tej Bahadur Yadav entered into politics. Bahadur has filed his nomination from the Karnal Assembly constituency for the Janata Party and competing with Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khatter in the elections. In 2017, BSF fired Tej Bahadur, who complained of poor quality of food.
In the last parliamentary elections, Bahadur filed a nomination from Varanasi as a Samajwadi Party candidate but Election Commission rejects the nomination. Tej Pratap alleged that the BJP came to power at the center with false guarantees and that unemployment increased during the BJP regime. Opposition leaders criticize him for being a non-native candidate.
