Malayalam filmmaker Sanal Kumar Sasidharan's Facebook post on Olympic silver medalist sparked outrage. When everyone is heaping praise on Nation's first female Silver medalist, He made a comment which demeans the historic achievement.
In the Facebook post written in Malayalam, Mr. Sasidharan said: 'Everyone is now celebrating the achievement of Sindhu. What if I spit? What is in it to celebrate?'.
After an uproar over the distasteful post, Sasidharan went on to defend himself by saying its just a satire and blamed people for lacking sense-of-humor. He told Facebook post on his fake intellectuals who demean PV Sindhu's achievement was misread and misinterpreted. He faulted National Media for being hungry for sensational news. 'This is a horrifying situation. It is worthless to explain to a mad crowd, who only want to abuse and attack without spending even a few seconds to understand what I said actually. I am not mad to demean a lady who fought and won for the entire female community in our patriarchal country. This is baseless and absolutely against truth,' he wrote.
