Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam terms Indian Army's surgical strikes across the Line of Control (LoC) as fake. 'Every Indian wants #SurgicalStrikesAgainstPak but not a fake one to extract just political benefit by #BJP. Politics over national interest,' he wrote.
After his Tweet, Sanjay Nirupam dared Government of India to prove that the surgical strikes were indeed true. Posting the posters of BJP in Uttar Pradesh, He raised doubts if the surgical strikes were just political stunt of the BJP.
Sanjay Nirupam questioned, 'Why there was no press conference on the surgical strikes carried out in the past? Why is it done now? Is there pressure on Indian Army from NDA?'.
While BJP treats Sanjay Nirupam's remarks as questioning the credibility of Indian Army, Congress on the other hand distances itself from its leader and hints it has taken serious note of it.
Meanwhile, Former Finance Minister P Chidambaram claims biggest surgical strikes were conducted during UPA regime in 2013. He, however, informs UPA didn't try to take it to the citizens of the country. He cautioned NDA Government not to use surgical strikes for political gains. Extending support to the Military operations, He demanded Government to disclose proofs of surgical strikes across LoC.
