Sasikala reaches Tamil Nadu, uses AIADMK flag once again

Expelled All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam(AIADMK) leader, former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister j Jayalalithaa’s close aide VK Sasikala entered poll-bound Tamil Nadu today.

Sasikala, popularly called Chinnamma received a grand welcome from the Amma Makkal Munnettra Kazagam(AMMK) cadres, as she returned to the state after her arrest and jail sentence in connection with the disproportionate assets case.

Ahead of Sasikala's visit, security was beefed up at Karnataka - Tamil Nadu border in Hosur.Police personnel were deployed in the area.Despite the AIADMK warning her to not use the party flag, VK Sasikala has once again used the party flag.

The AIADMK has claimed that they have lodged a complaint with the Tamil Nadu Police restricting her to use the party flag. However, Sasikala’s lawyer said they haven’t received any such directions from the cops.

Earlier, she was scheduled to visit the Marina beach and pay tributes to former CM Jayalalithaa. With the beach temporarily being closed for construction work she didn’t visit the beach.

Sasikala was convicted in the disproportionate assets case in 2017 and was sent to Parapanna Agrahara Prison in Bengaluru to serve the jail sentence. After serving her sentence, she was released from prison on January 27, 2020.

Before her release from prison, she developed an illness and tested positive for Covid-19. She underwent treatment for 10 days at the Victoria Hospital in Bengaluru. After her discharge from the hospital, she spent a couple of days at a resort before she left for Tamil Nadu.

Her arrival to Tamil Nadu ahead of the 2021 Assembly Elections is expected to make the political fight a three-faced one. She is expected to play a crucial role like AIADMK and DMK.
