AIADMK General Secretary VK Sasikala Natarajan who was convicted in the Rs 66.65 crore disproportionate assets case has been sentenced to 4 years imprisonment and a fine of 10 crore. She will have to serve additional 13 months of jail sentence in case if she fails to pay the Rs 10 crore penalty. Prisons Superintendent Krishna Kumar issued a statement in this regard.
Supreme Court convicted Jayalalithaa, Sasikala, he nephew Sudhakaran and sister-in-law Ilavarasi in the illegal assets case on February 14th, 2017. While Rs 100 crore fine was imposed against Jayalalithaa, All the three other convicts have to pay Rs 10 crore each.
Sasikala and Ilavarasi are lodged in the same cell of Parappana Agrahara Central Jail in Bangalore. The three convicts will be treated like normal inmates and they aren't entitled for VIP treatment. Sasikala was assigned the job to make candles and she would be paid a salary of Rs 50 per day. Jail Authorities turned down the request for home-cooked food. Prison Doctors have been conducting medical check-ups and providing medicines to the trio.
