The much-awaited Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation(GHMC) elections are just three days away. Following this, the Telangana State Election Commission (SEC) has issued key notices over liquor sales in Hyderabad.
The notification released by the State Election Commission (SEC) states that liquor sales will be suspended from November 29 to December 1. The local body elections are slated to commence on December 1.
According to the notification, the liquor sales will also be suspended on the 4th of December, the day when the counting will take place. The election results will be declared the same day.
Issuing the notification, Telangana State Election Commissioner C. Parthasarathi Reddy asked the state excise department to take all the measures to counter the illegal liquor transportation.
He even asked the excise department to set up check posts and intensify the checking to see that illegal liquor is not transported to the city.
