Few weeks ago, There was news in media about Attorney General of India Mukul Rohatgi advising Governor ESL Narasimhan on the implementation of Section 8 in common capital Hyderabad. However, Union Law Minister condemned any such development while speaking to media persons.
To everyone's surprise, Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi now openly says he has informed Governor ESL Narasimhan that he is free to assume special powers if needed as per Section 8 of AP Reorganisation Act. At the same time, He clarifies that no written advise has been given to Governor in the matter.
Ever since the Phone Tapping issue came to light, AP Government demanded implementation of Section 8 in Hyderabad to safeguard the interests of Andhrites living in the common capital. TRS Government firmly opposed Section 8 and KCR even warned about a fast-unto-death if such situation arises. After Attorney General's advise, It's up to Governor ESL Narasimhan to take a final call.
