See how successfully BJP trapped the TRS

Has the BJP successfully lured the ruling TRS into its trap on the issue of Hyderabad liberation day celebrations? Yes, say political watchers. The BJP has forced the TRS to abandon its eight-year-old political line of ignoring the Hyderabad Liberation Day celebrations. The party may have used a different name for the celebrations, but it did this time.

With the BJP upping its ante by roping in Union Home Minister Amit Shah and holding day long rallies, processions, flag-hoistings and a slew of other programmes, the TRS was left with no option but to fall in line. It was called September 17 Integration Day and National Unity Day and celebrated the programme with gusto.

While the TRS may be gloating over the attendance at its programme at the NTR stadium, it's leaders also realise that they had given in to the BJP's propaganda machinery. They and even the MIM had to celebrate the day. The MIM had held tiranga rallies in the Old City of Hyderabad. The BJP and the Sangh Parivar are happy that from next year onwards, there would be no opposition to the celebration of the Hyderabad liberation day.

Sources say that the BJP and the Sangh Parivar have chalked out a year -long programme for the Hyderabad liberation. There would be meetings, rallies, special programmes across the state throughout the year. Next year, Hyderabad's liberation will complete 75 years. The BJP wants to make it a big issue and seize the initiative from the TRS. It remains to be seen what the TRS would do to counter the BJP.
