Union Minister for Home Affairs Amit Shah has led the Modi Government's drive to combat the surge of Covid 19. Amit Shah, who himself was quarantined for testing positive in the first phase, has issued orders restricting attendance of the staff to just 50 per cent.

This means, only 50 per cent of the staff would be attending the office, while the remaining 50 per cent will work from home. A list of the employees, who should attend the office, has been prepared and only they have been allowed into the office. All meetings are being held only virtually. All the officers have been asked to get vaccinated.  Similar orders have been issued by other ministries too. For instance, the Animal Husbandry and Dairy departments too have minimised the physical presence of the employees at the office.  The employee's reporting time too has been staggered to ensure that there is no crowding at the entrance. Similar restrictions on gathering have been put in place in lifts, staircases, corridors, common areas and canteens.

All the Central Government employees in the North and the South Block of Delhi have been asked to follow the Covid protocos and containment strategies strictly. The employees have also been told to put on masks all the time in the offices.
