Strange scenes were witnessed in Lok Sabha on Thursday. Soon after the speech of MP Ravindra Gaikwad in the House, Shiv Sena MPs surrounded Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju and created ruckus in protest against the ban imposed against their party MP Ravindra Gaikwad. They screamed at him and also heckled. Sena MP Anant Geete led this protest in the House.
Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Ministers SS Ahluwalia, Smriti Irani, Ananth Kumar and Jayant Sinha came to the rescue of Ashok Gajapathi Raju. They shielded the Aviation Minister till he reached his chamber. At one stage, Sena MPs threatened not to allow flights take off from Mumbai if the ban wasn't lifted.
After this incident, Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan convened a meeting with Ashok Gajapathi Raju, Rajnath Singh and Shiv Sena MPs. Later, Rajnath Singh made a statement in Lok Sabha saying Civil Aviation Minister will hold a meeting with all the stakeholders and resolve the issue.
Osmanabad MP Ravindra Gaikwad slapped an Air India Official repeatedly. Air India and Six Private Airlines have imposed a ban on the Shiv Sena MP after this assault. Following which, Mr.Gaikwad issued an apology in Lok Sabha and sought revoke of ban. At the same time, He refused to apologise to Air India Official who was assaulted. Ashok Gajapati Raju maintained that safety of passengers is of utmost priority and refused to intervene in the matter. That's why, Sena MPs gheraoed him in Parliament Today.
