Sensation as rival leaders meet in Vijayawada

Update: 2023-01-10 12:03 GMT
The politics in Krishna district appear to be taking a curious turn. When two leaders from rival parties meet and hold discussions, eyebrows are bound to raise. Questions are bound to be asked. The meeting of Vijayawada MP and TDP leader Kesineni Nani and former home minister and YSRCP leader Vasantha Nageswara Rao too raised several questions.

The meet assumes significance in view of Vasantha Nageswara Rao's recent comments on the YSRCP government. He expressed concern at the non-representation of the Kamma community in Jagan's cabinet. He said the Telangana government was better in this regard as it has at least one Kamma minister. He lamented at the government completely ignoring the Kammas despite the fact that there were 20 MLAs in the house. Vasantha's son Krishna Prasad is currently a YSRCP MLA.

Interestingly, Vasantha Nageswara Rao recalled his association with Kesineni's grandfather Kesineni Venkaiah. He also termed Nani as an honest politician. He also lauded him for taking up welfare programmes without any bias. The YSRCP is said to be watching the developments keenly.

It may be recalled that on an earlier occasion too, Vasantha Nageswara Rao's comments had stirred up controversy. Vasantha Krishna Prasad had to literally give an explanation to the party's top leadership. Given this, senior Vasantha's meeting with Kesineni Nani is being viewed seriously. As of now, both the leaders have said that this was a mere courtesy call.
