Update: 2020-12-11 15:45 GMT
For a few days, media reports are abuzz that the leadership of the opposition alliance United Progressive Alliance(UPA) is likely to be changed to strengthen the alliance.

It is believed that NCP Chief Sharad Pawar will replace Sonia Gandhi as the UPA chairperson. Adding fuel to these speculations, the Congress-NCP ally Shiv Sena supported the move.

With growing speculations and support for the change in UPA leadership, NCP chief Sharad Pawar finally broke his silence and spoke about him leading the UPS instead of Sonia Gandhi.

Sharad Pawar who recently addressed the media over the leadership change in UPA said the reports of him leading the alliance are not true and urged everyone to not follow such media reports.

Earlier, Shiv Sena leader and MP Sanjay Raut said they will support the move to make Sharad Pawar as UPA Chairperson. Given his experience in politics, he can lead the alliance.

The reports of change in UPS leadership came after back to back defeats of the Congress party in the recent elections like Bihar Assembly polls, MP by-polls, and other by-elections.
