It appears YS Sharmila is ready to take on her brother and AP CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for protecting her political interests. On the issue of Krishna waters, she categorically said that she would not allow even a drop of Telangana water to be diverted to Andhra Pradesh. She said she would fight with the AP Government tooth and nail.
Not just that. She is also going to garland the statue of Prof. Jayashankar, the ideological father of the Telangna movement, during her tour to Warangal on Thursday. Prof. Jayashankar was a strong critic of united Andhra and YSR, who constantly frustrated the Telangana movement. Though her party is named after YS Rajasekhara Reddy, she doesn't seem to mind garlanding her father's ideological rival to stay afloat in Telangana politics. On Thursday, she also took on AP Parirakshana Samithi activists, who protested at her Lotus Pond residence, against her anti-AP attitude. Her supporters kicked the AP Parirakshana Samithi activists, including their leader Srinivas. She clearly showed her preference to Telangana over Andhra Pradesh. But, one does not know how much her newfound pro-Telangana symbolism would be accepted by the people of Telangana.
Meanwhile, Sharmila has indicated that her party would be named as YSR Telangana Party. On Thursday, she also launched two websites of the party. One is for building a team for the party, while the other is to garner support among the NRIs for her newly-formed political party. The flag and the agenda of the party would be decided soon.
