Shashank Manohar resigns as ICC Chairman

Update: 2017-03-15 16:50 GMT
Shashank Manohar stepping down as the Chairman of International Cricket Council (ICC) on Wednesday is completely unexpected. He sent his resignation through an e-mail to ICC CEO Dave Richardson Today citing personal issues.

It was only in May last year Shashank Manohar, then BCCI President, was elected unopposed as ICC Chairman. He, however, resigned even before the completion of 2-years term.

Sources say, Shashank Manohar might have resigned to save his face after BCCI got the support of Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe Cricket Boards to prevent constitutional and financial reforms by ICC in the next board meeting. ICC require 2/3rd Majority to pass any reforms. So, It could do nothing now after BCCI & Three Other Cricket Board have been opposing them.

Shashank Manohar is a renowned Indian Lawyer. He served as BCCI President from 2008 to 2011. He was chosen for the top post against in October 2015 after then BCCI President Jagmohan Dalmiya passed away. Later, He got elevated to the post of ICC Chairman.
