Update: 2019-06-24 05:16 GMT
The Telangana BJP is now eagerly awaiting the arrival of former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Shivraj Singh is arriving at Hyderabad on June 26. And why is the party eagerly looking forward to Shivraj's visit?

Well! Shivraj  Singh will launch the Telangana BJP's campaign to capture the municipalities and the corporations. The BJP, which fared poorly in the Assembly and the rural local body elections, is now looking to regain some mojo by doing well in the urbal local bodies, which will go to elections shortly. The party wants to keep the momentum that it has achieved with the Lok Sabha elections. The BJP won four MP seats and came second in three MP seats in Telangana. It polled around 20 per cent of votes in the Lok Sabha polls.

But, the BJP has not covered itself with any glory during the assembly elections, where it had one but one seat out if the 117 it contested. What more, it lost deposits in 100 seats. In the local body elections too, its performance was dismal. It barely won eight ZPTC seats our of 534 and 208 MPTC seats of a total of 5185.

So, Shivraj, who is arriving on June 26, will prepare ground for a massive membership drive starting from July 6. He will also rejig the booth, mandal and district level party organisational units. The party has some 11 lakh members in the state. The party wants to take the membership to 20 lakh and become fighting fit to take on the TRS in the municipal elections. Let's see if Shivraj Singh does the magic for Telangana that he failed to do for his own state - Madhya Pradesh.
