Update: 2021-09-17 14:36 GMT
The blackcaps team that was scheduled to tour in Pakistan took a sudden U-turn by calling off the series. The big decision came as a hammer blow to the Pakistan team and Cricket Board. The New Zealand team announced the development in the series minutes ahead of the start of the game.

The New Zealand Cricket Board said security threat is the reason behind taking the decision to call off the series. Despite Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan assuring that no unwanted scenes would take place, the Blackcaps went ahead with the decision.

Former Pakistan players Shahid Afridi and Shoaib Akhtar were not happy with the developments and slammed the New Zealand Cricket Board for taking such a decision that is not fair on the New Zealand part.

Former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar known for breathing pace took a step ahead and said New Zealand had killed Pakistan Cricket. He shared his opinion on his Twitter handle. "NZ just killed Pakistan cricket," Akhtar said in the tweet.

"On a HOAX threat you have called-off the tour despite all assurances!! @BLACKCAPS do you understand the IMPACT of your decision?" former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi tweeted.

However, the Pakistan Cricket Board offered to reschedule the series again. Looking at the possibilities of the same, the chances of very less as the blackcaps have a tight schedule. As the players are gearing for the IPL, the T20 World Cup is approaching.
