Simhachalam Trust: Is TDP Trying To Divide BJP, YSRCP?

Update: 2020-03-07 04:33 GMT
The BJP is mighty upset at the way the YSRCP government is handling the Mansas Trust and the Simhachalam Trust Board issues. In a late night surprise, the YSRCP government has removed hereditary chairperson and senior TDP hand Ashok Gajapathi Raju and replaced him with Sanchayita, the daughter of the former wife of his brother Anand Gajapathi Raju.

She was made the chairperson of the trust well past midnight on February 29. This is being seen as a move to divide the Gajapathi family and to weaken Ashok Gajapathi Raju. The BjP is mainly upset at the way the GOs were issued late in the night and the swearing-in was organised in such haste. More importantly, Sanchayita is a BJP member and she took up the post without even bothering to consult the party. Also, many people have doubts about whether Sanchayita is a practicing Hindu. Her mother, who divorced the Rajus, later married a Malayali, who was suspected to be a practicing Christian. Hence, both the TDP and the BJP have doubts about her being a practicing Hindu. Also, she is a regular at parties. All these will affect the sanctity of the temple and the trust, the BJP feels.

On Friday, BJP MLC PVN Madhav has even addressed a press conference in Vizag slamming Sanchayita's appointment. But more than the BJP, it is the TDP which is aggrieved. It feels Ashok Gajapathi Raju has been removed because he is a TDP leader.  Shockingly for the BJP, Sanchayita was appointed party spokesperson for Delhi only a week ago.
