Smriti Irani takes a dig at Deepika for supporting CAA protests

Update: 2020-01-10 10:34 GMT
Ever since Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone has supported the protests against the CAA in JNU in solidarity with the students, she became the target of everyone. People even called for boycotting Chappak, Deepika's new film based on acid attack survivor Lakshmi Agarwal.

Union Minister Smriti Irani joins the list who targeted Deepika and warned her to check that she is supporting "people who wanted the destruction of India"

"I think that anybody who has read the news knew where they were going to stand," Irani said.

"[They] knew that they're going to stand with people who wanted the destruction of India." she observed.

"I think that anybody who has read the news knew where you are going to stand... knew that you are standing with people who celebrate every time a CRPF jawan is killed," Smriti Irani said.

"I would rather know what her (Deepika Padukone's) political affiliation is than not know... I can't deny her that right that she will stand next to people who will beat up other girls who don't see eye-to-eye ideologically in private parts. That's her freedom," she added.
