Software Techies Fool The Parties, Refuse To Vote

Update: 2020-12-01 07:56 GMT
All eyes are now focused on the IT professionals and intellectuals in the GHMC elections. Which way these sections will vote, is the biggest question before all the major political parties. These sections usually do not take part in the electioneering and do not publicise their intentions. Their voting behavior is highly unpredictable.

According to poll wizards, at least 40 divisions in the GHMC have a high concentration of software professionals. A majority of them are non-Telugu speakers and a significant portion of them live alone. They usually live in hostels and are not interested in politics. But, there are instances of these voters coming out and voting. In such situations, they become deciders. Sources say they constitute between 10 to 15 per cent in about 40 divisions.

Both the TRS and the BJP have tried very hard to woo these sections. The BJP formed special groups for campaigning among them. However, the response to the campaign has been largely lukewarm. If the polling trend is any indication, a large number of the voters are already out of Hyderabad as they can work from home. They are already in their native homes and are working from there. These people will not be able to vote this time, say pundits.
