Senior politician Somu Veerraju who is serving the Andhra Pradesh wing of BJP as the chief from 2020 after Kanna Lakshminarayana was removed from the post held a sensational press meet on Tuesday. During the press meet, he gave big updates on how his political career is going to be in the future.
The AP BJP chief said that he would call it quits from politics after the 2024 general elections. He went on to say that he had decided on this so that he can have a simple life as he has invested more than four decades in his political career.
It's been more than 40 years since I have ventured into politics. Over the years I have served the people and holding positions is not my aim. I am not aiming for the Chief Minister post. All I want is to serve the people, Somo Veerraju said.
He went on to say that, when the BJP had an alliance with the current opposition party TDP, he got an offer to contest from the Rajahmundry constituency and was assured a Minister post. I strictly said no to the offer as I am not interested in taking up the positions, he said.
He concluded his briefing by calling for the need to bring BJP to power saying that people are not happy with the current government. We will develop the state if we were voted to power, he maintained.
