South Africa Speed Gun announces retirement from cricket

South African speed gun Dale Steyn who gave sleepless nights to a lot of batsmen with his breathtaking pace had bid his goodbye to international cricket on Tuesday.

"Today I officially retire from the game I love the most. Bitter sweet but grateful. Thank you to everyone, from family to teammates, journalists to fans, it's been an incredible journey together," Dale Steyn said in his statement.

Dale Steyn announced the retirement news on his Twitter handle with a statement. Across formats, the speedster made impressive figures and was a part of South Africa's wins in crucial marches.

Dale Steyn had played 93 Tests, 125 ODIs and 47 T20s and claimed 439, 196 and 64 wickets respectively. Dale Steyn had announced his Test retirement in 2019.

The former players and current members of the cricket fraternity have showered praises on Steyn Gun for his contribution towards the game.

Calling him one of the best players ever played the games, the players extended their wishes on starting a new chapter.
