South African all-rounder breaks Yuvraj Singh's record of expensive player in IPL
The much-awaited auction for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season was held today at the shore city Chennai on Thursday. South African all-rounder Chris Morris has created history in the bidding.
Chris Morris has started the auction with a base price of Rs 75 lakh. At the end of the bidding, the all-rounder was purchased for a record price of Rs. 16.25 crore by Rajasthan Royals.
Morris, the newly inducted Rajasthan Royals player had broken the previous record held by former Indian player Yuvraj Singh in the history of the IPL. Yuvraj was sold for Rs 16 lakh.
Morris is also the most expensive overseas in the IPL. Earlier, Pat Cummins was purchased by Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 15.5 crore before the 2020 edition of the IPL.
The all-rounder who was seen in the International cricket back in 2019 is a right-arm speed bowler. Morris is also known for his hitting game style. He has played 70 games in the IPL so far.
Chris Morris's inclusion into the Rajasthan Royals would make the team, even more, a stronger team with the ball. Jofra Archer, who has been leading the pace attack would now share the blowing attack with morris.
