Children who are below the age group of 11 are testing positive for the dreaded COVID-19 virus in Andhra Pradesh creating many concerns and fears about the pandemic. The Special Chief Secretary for Health of AP Dr. Jawahar Reddy spoke about this scary situation.

"We have got some COVID-19 cases who are below 11 yrs of age. That is a new trend, new disease, new infection, we are still trying to understand the nature of the infection. The line of treatment and protocol remains the same. We are following the advice by ICMR," Mr. Reddy said.

Jawahar Reddy denied all the speculations of the community transmission of the COVID-19 virus and said that Andhra Pradesh is one of the top five states in the country in terms of conducting the highest number of medical examinations.

"The majority of cases recorded in Andhra Pradesh are linked to either foreign returnees or the Markaz returnees. There are very few cases that do not have a link to these," he added.

The count of the positive cases of COVID-19 in Andhra Pradesh reached 534 while 14 deaths were reported to date. Out of the 534 cases, 20 patients have recovered from the virus and discharged accordingly.
