The funeral procession of Sridevi will be remembered for a very long period. Fans turned out in huge numbers to bid tearful farewell to the evergreen beauty on Wednesday afternoon. Chants of 'Sridevi Amar Rahe' resonated throughout the funeral procession.
Sridevi was dressed up in a traditional avatar with Kanchivaram Saree & Designer Jewellery. The Padma Shri recipient was also draped in tri-colour with Maharashtra Government according full state honours. Mortal remains of the Actress was placed in a glass casket on the open truck decorated with flowers for reaching crematorium. Boney Kapoor, his son Arjun Kapoor, two brothers Anil Kapoor and Sanjay Kapoor had travelled in the truck which passed through posh areas such as Andheri and Vile Parle suburbs.
Students, office goers and residents were seen on either side of the 6 km-stretch. Hundreds of people were on the terraces of the buildings to catch the glimpse of Sridevi for one last time. Even Signals and Lamp Posts haven't been spared by the fans.
Bollywood Superstars Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan and many other Celebs came to bid farewell to Sridevi. Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor performed the final rituals. Boney Kapoor remained beside his Daughters when the mortal remains were consigned to the flames.
In terms of number of Mourners, Sridevi's Funeral Procession is now compared to some of biggest ones (Legendary Singer Mohammed Rafi in July 1980 - Around Million Mourners; India's First Superstar Rajesh Khanna in July 2012 - Close to Million Mourners) in the history. There was a huge turnout for the funeral processions of Raj Kapoor (July 1988) and Vinod Khanna (April 2017) as well. It won't be a surprise if Sridevi beats other Legends in this category too!
