Update: 2020-05-08 09:22 GMT
The nationwide lockdown imposed in India by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has now entered the third phase and as a result, the centre gave the same relaxations to the states as a move to boost the economy.

Following this, some states like Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Delhi have decided to reopen the liquor stalls which were closed since the lockdown was active.

With the liquor outlets being opened after a long gap, alcohol lovers rushed to the stores to grab a bottle. Even the hike of the liquor prices couldn't stop them to buy liquor.

The recent data collected on the consumption of liquor in these states took everyone by shocker. Coming to Southern states, Tamil Nadu tops the list with 13 % followed by Karnataka(12%), Andhra Pradesh(7%), Telangana(6%), and Kerala with 5%.

While Punjab, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan have consumers of around 75%.
