Students studying class I-IX in Puducherry to get promoted with appearing for exams

Due to the pandemic situation, several states in the country have decided to pass the students without appearing for the exams. Now the Union Territory, Puducherry too joined the list to promote the students.

All the students studying from classes 1 to 9 in the Union Territory will be passed without exams for the academic year 2020-21. The development came after Lt. Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan approved the proposal.

The proposal was put before Lt. Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan, by the Directorate of School Education. The proposal received the green signal from her on Thursday.

The education department had also announced that the schools will operate five days a week, with Saturday and Sunday as holidays. Students of class I-IX will have classes till March 31, 2021.

"The students of Class 10 and Class 11 in Puducherry and Karaikal will be declared as per guidelines of the Tamil Nadu Board. The Class 10 and Class 11 students of Mahe and Yanam regions will be declared as per the guidelines of Kerala and Andhra Pradesh Boards respectively," the press release reads.

In the press release, Raj Bhavan said, the decision applies to all the schools that fall under the limits of Puducherry. Students of 10,11 and 12 classes will have to appear for the exams and the schedule will be announced soon.
