The issue of 'Special Category Status' has led to a situation of war of words between two Union Ministers, one each from TDP & BJP.
All eyes were on Venkaiah Naidu & Sujana Chowdary at present. Venkaiah claimed he is in favor of Special Status for AP but decision would be taken only after consensus. He reminds even developed States like Punjab were seeking Special Status and offering such a boon to AP at this situation isn't a wise decision.
In response, Sujana Chowdary stated he is unable to figure out why Venkaiah Naidu is speaking in such a manner even though according Special Status to a particular state doesn't need consensus. He reminds Venkaiah that states like Chattisgarh, Jharkhand and Uttaranchal weren't accorded Special Status based on consensus. 'If the current MPs say 'we don't need independence', Will India be handed over to Britishers again?,' he questioned Venkaiah on a serious note.
The recent developments have widened the gap between TDP & BJP. Seems like TDP won't be tolerating the delay in implementation of Special Status & Special Package any more.
