Another BJP Senior Shown The Door

Update: 2019-04-22 05:19 GMT
Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi have been denied tickets. Stalwarts like Uma Bharti and Sushma Swaraj have opted out citing health reasons. Now, another party biggie who crossed 70 years of age, has been retired. In accordance with the BJP's self-imposed rule that those above 75 years of age, would not hold any official posts, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan has been shown the door.  Sumitra Mahajan's name is not there in the list of the BJP candidates. Sumitra, a several time MP from Indore, has been a diehard BJP worker and leader. She is the sitting MP from Indore. Later, as a face-saving gesture, Sumitra herself announced that she had never sought a ticket and that she is opting out. However, as a mark of respect for her contribution to the party, Sumitra has been asked to choose her successor. She chose her diehard supporter Shankar Lalwani as the BJP candidate from Indore.

Thus ended the illustrious career of a BJP stalwart. Sumitra Mahajan could be made governor of some key state, sources say.
