Gavaskar Faults Kohli's Choice For No.4

Update: 2019-08-12 14:07 GMT
Sunil Gavaskar isn't okay with Virat Kohli's decision to make Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer bat at No.4 and No.5 Positions respectively. He believes sending Iyer ahead of Pant makes sense than the other way around.

Upon watching the impressive knock of Shreyas Iyer in the 2nd ODI against West Indies where he build the partnership with Skipper Kohli by making 71 valuable runs, Sunil Gavaskar feels the Right Handed Batsman should bat at No.4 instead of No.5 as he have the ability to build partnerships. He says Rishabh Pant's batting technique which is similar to that of MS Dhoni best suits No.5 or No.6 Position.

The Legendary Cricketer feels Rishabh Pant is an attacking player and he can't be used to build partnerships at the Top Order. Instead, He suggests Team Management to send the Wicket-Keeper Batsman at 4th Position only if India are 3 down by the end of 40th over to improve the run rate.

Another Former Cricketer Zaheer Khan expressed similar views after Yesterday's match between India and West Indies. He opined Rishabh Pant seems to be in a dilemma whether to attack or not while playing at 4th position and an attacking player like him has to be at 5th or 6th position. Let's hope Kohli is listening to what these former greats have been saying..!
